Notes

Sometimes the perfect little projects that you absolutely must do come along. This was one of those. In the works for over six years, director Dan Cohen said he wanted me to score his amazing film after hearing my score to MAGNIFICENT DESOLATION. It wasn't until 2009, approached by my friends at Herzog & Company and given a two-page synopsis, that I realized the depth of the story.

Israel's first astronaut, Ilan Ramon, died in the Columbia Space Shuttle disaster on Februrary 1, 2003. Among his items he chose to take with him to space was a tiny Torah scroll that had been smuggled out of Bergen Belsen concentration camp during WWII by a young boy who would grow up to become one of Israel's leading scientists and friend to Ilan. As poetically stated in the film, the story shows how humankind can survive the depths of Hell to reach the heights of Space.

I hope the world can see this incredible film some day.
